-Surgery prep and post-op care
-Anesthetize animals and monitor anesthesia
-Administer treatments and dispense medications
-Calculate drug dosages
-Perform dental prophy
-Draw blood, perform fecal examinations, and urinalysis
-Take and develop radiographs
-Clean and maintain equipment
-Organize clinic and respond to phone calls
-Facilitate animal foster recheck appointments
-Computer entry and other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
-Veterinary Technician Certification achieved and maintained
-Candidates must be positive, flexible, and work well with coworkers and the public
-Flexibility and/or open availability to work some evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts as needed
-Must be committed to treating animals and humans with kindness and respect
Benefits/Compensation WHS offers CVT’s a very competitive starting salary of $16.00/hour. In addition, both part-time and full-time hired candidates will receive a $500 bonus after 90 days and another $500 at the 6 month mark for a total of $1,000! Full-time staff are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package including up to 2 weeks Vacation, 1 week Paid Time Off (PTO), and 6 paid Holidays within their first year. Paid time-off will be prorated based on the full-time hire date and is available after 45 days of consecutive employment.

About Us The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, and Brown Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, educational programming, and veterinary resources for animals from low-income households, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the states busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
