We are currently seeking a full-time or part-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our Racine Campus veterinary team as soon as possible! There is also potential for our full-time opportunity to operate in a partial float status as well. In this opportunity, half of the position would be based out of our Racine Campus, and the other half of the position would operate in a float support status for our other campus location I times of need. Position Summary Job Responsibilities

-Surgery prep and post op care

-Anesthetize animals and monitor anesthesia

-Administer treatments and dispense medications

-Calculate drug dosages -Perform dental prophy

-Draw blood, perform fecals, and urinalysis

-Vaccinate animals

-Take and develop radiographs

-Clean and maintain equipment

-Organize clinic and respond to phone calls

-Computer entry and other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements​

-Veterinary Technician Certification achieved and maintained

-Candidates must be positive, flexible, and work well with coworkers and the public

-Flexibility and/or open availability to work some evening, weekend, and/or holiday shifts as needed

-Must be committed to treating animals and humans with kindness and respect

-Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply


WHS offers newly hired CVT’s a very competitive starting salary of $16.00/hour.

Full-time staff are eligible up to 2 weeks of Vacation, 1 week Paid Time Off, and 6 paid Holidays after 45 days of employment as well as the following benefits on the first of the month following 60 days of consecutive employment after their full-time hire date:

About Us

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, and Brown Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, educational programming, and veterinary resources for animals from low-income households, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the states busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
