The Wisconsin Veterinary Technician Association is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1989. The purpose of the WVTA is to:
- Promote professionalism and ethical behavior of all veterinary technicians
- Promote continuing educational opportunities
- Improve and encourage communication among veterinary technicians
- Inform and represent veterinary technicians in legislative matters
- Inform the veterinary profession as to the value and benefits derived from employing trained para-professionals
- Improve and support the development of the veterinary technician vocation
- Assist in providing the best medical attention available to suffering animals
- Promote the humane treatment of animals
