The Lake Mills Veterinary Clinic is a continually growing practice looking to expand its team. FixaPet is hiring! We are seeking a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to add to our growing staff and expanding programs! FixaPet is a HQHVSN program sponsored by the Clark County Humane Society in Neillsville, WI. Since its inception, FixaPet has performed more than 21,000 spay/neuter surgeries. And we’re just getting started!

FixaPet is now expanding to add more spay/neuter surgeries each day, provide dental services, increase wellness appointments and vaccinations, and to ensure basic veterinary care. We are excited about our future, and want you to be a part of it.

Our ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude. Must be currently licensed in the State of Wisconsin. Previous CVT experience is required, as well as skills handling dogs and cats. This position will work closely with our veterinarians and other staff. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. We are looking for professional, friendly interactions with clients, with client education always important. Attention to detail, efficiency, and organizational skills are a plus. Compassionate care for patients is of the utmost priority. Assistance with future plans to pursue Fear Free certification for the clinic is desirable.

Basic tasks for this CVT position will include performing lab procedures, surgical prep, assisting with anesthesia, monitoring patients, taking vital signs, administering medications, phlebotomy, record keeping, and other duties as assigned. Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch is needed, as well as ability to carry up to 50 pounds (heavier lifting will always require assistance from another staff member). As the FixaPet program also provides the care for shelter animals residing at CCHS, a great opportunity also exists for becoming involved with our Shelter Medicine program. Other duties may be defined as the FixaPet program expands. We are looking for that special CVT to grow with us. Ultimately, we are looking for a self-starter and go-getter willing to also take on responsibility for coordinating the surgical day, supervising appointments, being responsible for ordering supplies, utilizing staff to the best of their talents, and making FixaPet the best place to bring pets for their basic care. Our newest CVT will be a key part of our bright future!

Volunteer Medical Coordinator

Happy Endings is a non-profit 501(c)(3), no kill organization run solely by volunteers who have been saving lives since 1994. It is the mission of Happy Endings to find permanent homes for unwanted, stray, abused or feral animals that are brought to us or rescued from the street.

Brief Description

Under general supervision of the board, this position is responsible for coordinating all medical care provided internally and administered through other veterinarian care facilities externally. The Medical Coordinator oversees the volunteer medical and socialization teams for the shelter. Keeping accurate medical records to ensure proper medical treatment and socialization is key for success.

Essential Functions

  • Schedule routine and emergency care
  • Administer intake of cats entering the shelter
  • Train medical and socialization teams on standard medical procedures and shelter protocols
  • Order medical supplies and medications
  • Monitor utilization of the medical budget and provide quarterly updates to the board

The Veterinary Information Specialist position is responsible for responding to incoming cases on Pet Poison Helpline and SafetyCall’s industry side via the telephone, email, and chat applications regarding potential toxic exposures, poisonings and other adverse events from pet owners and veterinarians related to various household and consumer products, animal health products, plants, OTC products, dietary supplements, prescription drugs, and other chemical exposures. Specialists take full histories and details of the events, triage the cases and provide accurate medical, health and safety information to the callers.
Specialists document each case in an electronic record and follow up as necessary to ensure the wellbeing of the animals and facilitate adverse event reporting on the industry side.
Schedule
Full Time, Overnights: This position works 10-hour shifts between 10pm-8am CST. The Overnight Technician works 7 days on, 7 days off. This position will also be expected to work any holidays that fall on their normal working rotation.
Required Experience, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
1. Active CVT/LVT/RVT License and 1+years of work experience in a veterinary clinic/hospital
2. At least one year of emergency/critical care experience preferred
3. Ability to work varying shift times and varying days, including weekends as specified above.

Industry Representatives provide answers to general inquiries on routine product use, such as clarification and information slated on product labels or inserts, and document lack of efficacy cases, product complaints, customer service and other inquiry cases
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Shifts will be 8 ½ hours varying between 9AM-7PM CST. Positions do not have a set schedule. Shift times and shift days will vary and include weekends, typically 2-3 per month and some holidays.
